EQUINE AMBULANCE SERVICES For emergencies only I can be contacted for equine ambulance services on the following numbers (please try the mobile number first) 24 hours a day:
I am licensed to euthanize horses on site and can talk this through with you in advance. Whilst I find this an intensely emotional action to perform, I believe it necessary for the benefit of the horse that cannot have its' life prolonged further in a humane way. I believe you should consider this option very seriously as it means your horse is put to sleep in its' home surroundings with the least amount of stress possible, with the people around them that they know and trust. I do not arrive with the distinctive smell of 'vet' on me that is almost certain to upset the horse. I strongly believe from experience that the quickest, most humane way to put a horse to sleep is by using a gun and not by injection. I have a winch fitted to my trailer and can remove the body in as dignified a way as possible. Alternatively, I can leave the body with you for disposal/burial in accordance with local authority guidelines. I believe this whole procedure should be handled with sensitivity and care, and always communicate with the horse to alleviate his fears. I believe in blessing the soul and body of the horse and in treating the body with respect. Alternatively, if your horse has already been put to sleep I can arrange to remove the body for you. This service is offered 24 hours a day. I am an approved collector under the National Fallen Stock Scheme (a goverment body). Cooper Wilson |
